International students who complete a programme of study in Canada are granted open work licences known as post-graduation work permits (PGWPs). PGWP holders are permitted to work anywhere in Canada for any company for as many hours as they choose.

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has stated that some overseas students applying to the Post Graduation Work Permit programme (PGWP) would have to meet additional language and field of study criteria as of November 1, 2024.
PGWPs are an excellent method to gain relevant Canadian work experience and can last anywhere from eight months to three years. Your PGWP’s duration is determined by the length of your study programme, its level, and the expiration date of your passport, whichever comes first. After gaining job experience in Canada, a candidate has many options to get. For more information please visit PGWP in Surrey

A Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP): What is it?

International students who have completed their studies at a Canadian Designated Learning Institution (DLI) are eligible to apply for Post-Graduation Work Permits (PGWPs). PGWPs are open work permits, which allow foreign nationals to work anywhere in Canada for any business.

For whom is a PGWP available?

A foreign national must have completed at least eight months of full-time study in Canada and be at least eighteen years old to be eligible for a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP). The study program must have been finished in one of the following program categories at a Designated Learning Institution (DLI). Additionally, a foreign citizen has 180 days from the end of their academic program to apply for a work permit.

An applicant must have valid status at the time of application if they are applying from within Canada. Before applying for the PGWP, individuals may apply for guest status if their study permit has expired or is about to expire. However, while their application is being processed, individuals who Apply PGWP before their study permit expires are allowed to start working full-time right away. Candidates from abroad may apply for a PGWP.

*Notably, there are additional language and subject of study criteria for those overseas students who applied for a study permit on or after November 1, 2024.
